POST 2 : LOOK UP/ LOOK DOWN
"LOOK UP" VIDEO :
- What I understood is that the "look up" video is mostly about cell phones, and spending our time on the Net or social networks... Gary, the person who is talking, has more or less a negative vision of new technologies. For me, the video is divided in three parts : First, Online friends, then children who have been growing up with electronics devices and finally he speaks out about love and how finding our "soulmate"/ lover.
In the first part, he tells us, we can have plenty of friends on social medias but those "friends" have never seen us for real, listening to the sound of our voice or looking us right in the eyes. For him, this is only a illusion that we create, a self-interest... He even compares Internet as a world with informations sold by rich people who don't care about consequences... He says, we should be there for our friends and they will do the same for us, that we should (re)learn to coexist.
For the second part, Gary talks about his past. When he was a little boy and he was never at home, always in a park playing with other or riding his bike. Now, children are entertaining with Ipad. They're no more hanging out in the neighbourhood with their friends, just chatting or having fun.
Finally, he brings the topic of lovers and finding the "One". He thinks if you are in a relationship, you can't waste your time on Internet all day or you're gonna miss many opportunities and see many doors closed. Spending hours with your other half without making any eye contact is not the right thing to do. "Sharing moments with him/her, living life the real way" he says ! Just loving the people who are important for you. Be present ! Here is his message at the end.
Honestly in my opinion almost all he said in the video is true. I completely agree with Gary. Even if I think he dramatizes a little bit the situation by using some "great" words or by the way he acts but he's right, most of people are more with their phones while they should be more with their friends or family and live in a real world instead of a virtual one.
"LOOK DOWN" VIDEO :
- Personally, I prefer the "look up" because I share most of thoughts with this one than the other. I like the serious and the real meaning behind. However, the second video "Look down" is more humorous, laughable and simple. Also, the way the narrator speaks, and his funny faces are perfect for a parody. So I really enjoyed it too even if I'm a little more into the "Look Up" video.
